Splashproof materials are not fully waterproof and cannot be submerged in water. This term is used to describe our Polyester and Polypropylene range. These materials are moisture-resistant and are a more cost-effective alternative to our fully waterproof range. Common uses for Polypropylene and Polyester material include labels for food containers, cosmetics and wine bottles.
Our entire Vinyl Material range is fully waterproof. Vinyl is an incredibly hard-wearing material and, with the permanent adhesive bond lasting a minimum of 3 years, the adhesive product can withstand nearly all environments. We use the same material for our vinyl labels as we do for our vinyl car decals. This material can be fully submerged in water and our customers have ordered these labels for a variety of uses, including in construction, marine administration and use on golf clubs.
Pros and Cons of Splashproof materials;
A big bonus for Polyester and Polypropylene is how versatile it is as a material. We can answer most label conundrums with either of these materials as they are available on a roll, A4 sheets or die cut. We even have a thermal printer-compatible version of both the polyester and polypropylene range, ensuring we have a home/ office printing solution for each type of printer.
The only downfall of the Splashproof range is that the plain labels are not fully waterproof. If you are looking to order printed labels from us, these can be laminated to further protect the print from moisture and scratches. Pros and Cons of Waterproof materials;
Vinyl is a fantastic material to work with and provides endless opportunities to create truly bespoke products. It is the strongest adhesive in our material range and is printed on a wide format machine so is not restricted to specific sizes. Vinyl will work for any application.
There are two limitations to Vinyl as a material. Although custom products are not an issue, the material is not suitable for creating roll labels and will not be available in this format. Given the material is very specialist, the second limitation is that the material cannot be printed on by generic home and office printers. The material requires a specialist eco-solvent ink or UV printer for a successful finish.
